the shadow of Camelot
Dagryre is a mystical place full of dark woodland and marshes. Is said to be a living land, with forests that mislead their enemies and protect their own people. Many suspect it is also because Éclipse De Lune, the court of the Unseelie, is located in their land.
Camelot will be mine, even if I have to burn it down first.
Morgana le Fay
History
The people of Dagryre and Altdon have always been in a hostile relationship because one did not accept the other’s faith.
So close to Camelot, the knights repeatedly tried to control and change the minds of the people living there.
However, this drove the normal people of Dagryre just further into the arms of the witches, who seemed to be their only help. So it was no surprise when the witches began to control the land for their own benefit.
Bride of the Thorn – Queen Emberly
When the apocalypse befell Avalon, the witches of Dagryre did not see it as a curse, they welcomed it. They were the first to seek friendship with the Abyssals. They even went so far as to marry one of their Cardinal Witches to the Abyssal Thorn Thraig, thus forming a special bond.
This burden fell to the witch Emberly, a Cardinal Witch of the Fire Element. Although she had fire as her element, she was considered the weakest of the Cardinal Witches. Malicious tongues even claim that the witches wanted to get rid of her that way.
Emberly dreaded this task. She was sure that Thraig would recognize her as too weak and then exterminate her.
Thraig realized that something was wrong with the plan and sent his agents. They eventually found out that Morgana was secretly trying to force Abyssal allies. However, the Abyssal wanted nothing to do with her. So she had hoped she could manipulate Emberly into doing her bidding.
To Emberly’s surprise, Thraig accepted the marriage under the condition that Emberly would get the title of Queen at his side. His Abyssal witches taught her more fire magic. He wanted her to be able to stand up for herself against any injustice.
The Four Cardinal Witches
Witches normally only use one element, the Fury of Earth. However, Cardinal Witches have such a strong connection to Avalon that they can learn another element. Like the Tua Theran they are given the ability to command fire, earth, air, or water.
This extra power also gives them a higher position among their sisters, which leads to them becoming leaders of an own coven.
The Pagran Coven
The Pagran Coven harbors the most powerful witches in all of Avalon, with the goal of becoming even more powerful.
Only women are allowed to join, and education begins at an early age.
The witches of the Pagran Coven were also the ones who mentored Morgana le Fay, but it quickly became apparent that she would surpass them all, in her greed and madness to harm Camelot. This divided her from the rest of the witch community.
The Pagran Witches still use the fury of Avalon‘s earth, but are always careful to remain in balance.
