Westwere

The Gold of the West

Shaped by the Westmarsh and barren forests, Westwere lies silent with ever-cloudy skies and the smell of rain in the air on the west shore of Avalon. Overlooked by the other people of Avalon, it attracted bandits and other shady characters. Later, Westwere managed to gain a lot of wealth and influence through its Grold. Armed with strong soldiers, Westwere could no longer be ignored.

Power sometimes means making a pact with death itself. What do I have to lose?

Aster the Hollow

History

Little envied for its marshy landscape, many believed that Westwere would never be able to rise.

Over time, the people learned to live with it, to take advantage of the characteristics of their land. The marsh, which was previously seen as a curse, turned out to be a veritable mine of gold. They found no gold, but something equally valuable in their eyes. Iron, enriched by the swamps.
No one could quite explain how and why. But as if the Westmarsh sensed their suffering and wanted to give them something in return for their hardship living there.

Gray Gold, or Grold, is stronger and more resistant than the iron on the rest of Avalon. Recognizable by the fine olive veins running through the gray once the weapon or armor is finished by the fire of the forge.

The Fisher King

King Anfortas known as the Fisher King was the keeper of the Grail and the master of the Grail Castle, Castle Corbenic in the time of Camelots Ascension.

Through the turmoil and demonic energy in the age of Camelot’s Twilight, the Fisher King was revived as a wandering undead. Together with his servants and guards, he is now once again the master of Castle Corbenic.

His purpose to protect the Grail had disappeared and he tried to fill this void with something new. This gave him a taste for gold, and the people of Westwere were only too willing to pay his “tax” so that his undead soldiers could protect the borders of Westewere.

His undead existence also gave him necromantic abilities. Which he passed on to various individuals who were brave enough to serve under his banner.

The Three Coins

From the very beginning, criminals seemed to shape the history of Westwere. They later united into three powerful families, later known as the Three Coins, and thus bought and formed their very own hierarchy of nobility.
One would think that this could only lead to ruin, but it was precisely these three Families that took pride when the Grold was found. Through them, the iron was mined, the soldiers equipped and the Grold sold for good coins to the other lands of Avalon. Westwere was able to grow, gain wealth and influence, no one would be able to overlook them anymore.

The Sterwa Syndicate

Sterwa. Actually a prison on the edge of Sunderpass. It developed into something of its own. Led by the brothers Wolfstan and Wymond, of surprisingly noble blood, who become known as the Sterwa Brothers.

United under their own banner, they formed a disciplined battle squad of agile and cunning mercenaries. Which are often used to do the dirty work for the nobles all around Avalon, for precious coin of course.
